Da kardio vaskuläre Erkra…nkungen bei chirurgisch behandelten Patienten nicht nur be sonders häufig, sondern auch mit einem hohen Risikopotential für den perioperativen Verlauf verknüpft sind, ist es nicht erstaunlich, daß das kardio vaskuläre System unverändert im Zentrum des Interesses und der Anstrengun gen der Anästhesiologie steht. Zu dieser Thematik ist bereits vor 16 Jahren (1975) in einem Workshop zum Thema 'Der Risikopatient in der Anästhesie - Herz-Kreislauf-System' der damalige Erkenntnisstand über Ausmaß und Wich tigkeit, Erkennung und Ausschaltung kardiovaskulärer Gefährdungen des ope rativen Patienten erarbeitet und als Band 11 der Reihe Klinische Anästhesiologie und Intensivtherapie im Jahre 1976 publiziert worden. Die quantitative Bedeutung kardiovaskulärer Störungen für die operative Medizin ist seit dieser Zeit nicht geringer geworden. Angewachsen sind aber zweifellos unsere Kenntnisse über ihren Einfluß auf den perioperativen Verlauf und das Ergebnis des chirurgischen Eingriffs. Neue und verbesserte Verfahren der präoperativen Diagnostik sowie der intra- und postoperativen Überwa chung stehen zur Verfügung, und unsere therapeutischen Interventionsmöglich keiten haben zugenommen. Auch die kardiovaskuläre Chirurgie hat einen Wandel erfahren.

Zu dieser Thematik ist bereits vor 16 Jahren (1975) in einem Workshop zum Thema 'Der Risikopatient in der Anästhesie - Herz-Kreislauf-System' der damalige Erkenntnisstand über Ausmaß und Wich tigkeit, Erkennung und Ausschaltung kardiovaskulärer Gefährdungen des ope rativen Patienten erarbeitet und als Band 11 der Reihe Klinische Anästhesiologie und Intensivtherapie im Jahre 1976 publiziert worden. Die quantitative Bedeutung kardiovaskulärer Störungen für die operative Medizin ist seit dieser Zeit nicht geringer geworden. Angewachsen sind aber zweifellos unsere Kenntnisse über ihren Einfluß auf den perioperativen Verlauf und das Ergebnis des chirurgischen Eingriffs. Neue und verbesserte Verfahren der präoperativen Diagnostik sowie der intra- und postoperativen Überwa chung stehen zur Verfügung, und unsere therapeutischen Interventionsmöglich keiten haben zugenommen.
