Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Oppenheimer, J.R.; Serber, Robert (1938). "On the Stability of Stellar Neutron Cores" in Physical Review, American Physical Society, 1 October 1938, vol 54 (7), pp 485-544, with the Oppenheimer/Serber on pg 540 in the complete weekly issue. Nice, bright copy, rebound in cloth with a paper cover label…. The binding is fine and NEW; the text is very fresh, though it has an old horizontal fold that goes through the issue. [++] This paper is an early key contribution to understanding the extreme conditions with-in neutron stars, and was an important development for Oppenheimer's gravitational contraction work with H. Snyder in the next year ("On Massive Neutron Cores" and also while we're at it Oppenheimer's big paper with Volkoff "On Massive Neutron Cores") on gravitational contraction, which investigated the collapse of stars into what are now known as black holes. Oppenheimer didn't like this busi-ness too much though it has been widely acknowledged by many as some of his most important work (including J.A. Wheeler, who coined the term in 1967).
