At the time, Sharp was a New York-based independent curator and Béar an underground magazine editor who had recently moved to New York from London. As with other copies of this scarce volume, the frontis is of Mr Kean, rather than Mrs Siddons as originally intended. Some discolouration to the edges of the plates and foxing on text pages.
