Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. A substantial contemporary record of one of the most destructive natural disasters in West Virginia history. Compiled shortly after the catastrophic November 4-5, 1985 flood, the volume combines eyewitness accounts, newspaper reporting, statistical summaries, and hundreds of photographs documenting the devastation across numerous communities including Parsons, Moorefield, Jefferson County, Tucker County, and other affected regions. Particularly notable are the first-person narratives from local editors and residents, period newspaper reproductions, recovery efforts, and extensive photographic coverage capturing both the human and physical toll of the disaster. As a regional publication produced close to the event itself, the book serves as an important primary-source document of Appalachian history, disaster response, and community resilience. Condition: Very Good. Sound, clean copy with light edge wear, mild corner rubbing, and minor handling wear to wraps. Interior pages are clean and bright with no major markings noted. Former owner address label affixed to title page. Binding remains tight and fully intact. No significant creasing, moisture damage, or loose pages observed. Overall a well-preserved example of a regional title that is often encountered in lesser condition due to its local readership. Identified as a Second Edition on page 112: 'Additional copies of the second edition of this book may be purchased…' The title page carries the original 1985 copyright and publisher information for Cheat River Publishing, Terra Alta, West Virginia. Regional Appalachian publications of this nature were frequently produced in relatively small print runs, making surviving copies increasingly difficult to locate outside the region. Bob Teets, publisher and editor of the Preston County News, and Shelby Young, managing editor of the Clay County Free Press, assembled contemporary newspaper reporting, photographs, and firsthand accounts into a documentary record of the flood. Their work remains a valuable source for researchers of West Virginia history, Appalachian studies, emergency management, and regional journalism.…
