Seine erzählten und gezeichneten Erinnerungen umfassen 60 Jahre europäischer und israelischer Geschichte: Katz überlebte den Zweiten Weltkrieg in Budapest, wurde mit seiner Jugendgruppe nach abenteuerlicher Schiffsreise in einem englischen Lager in Zypern interniert und gelangte nach der Befreiung nach Palästina. Er errichtete schließlich mit seinen Kameraden unter Beschuss der Araber den Kibbuz Gaaton an der Nordgrenze Israels, in dem er mit seiner Frau Nomi heute noch lebt. Seit Jahrzehnten kommentiert Katz das politische Geschehen in Israel mit einer wöchentlichen Karikatur in der angesehenen linksliberalen Zeitung Ma'äriv". Einen Großteil seiner Arbeiten widmet Katz seinem Herzensanliegen, dem dauerhaften Frieden zwischen Israelis und Palästinensern.
