Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. The Authorized, Illustrated Biography of the famous Victorian preacher C. H. Spurgeon. This attractive First Edition of FROM THE USHER'S DESK TO THE TABERNACLE PULPIT was published by Passmore & Alabaster in 1892, the year of Spurgeon's death. Hardcover. Frontispiece which has 5 photos of Spurgeon from the 1855, 1864, 1872, 1872, 1884 and 1891. Tissue guard present (often the indicator of the first printing). ALSO PRESENT is a laid in note from the publisher, between the frontispiece and the title page, indicating the following: "The proof-sheets of this "Life" were revised at Menton [sic] under Mr. Spurgeon's supervision, during his last illness: and a final chapter has been added, to carry the history down to the date of his death." This laid-in note would seem to provide ample proof that this is the first printing. 316 pp. viii advertisements. Maroon beautifully illustrated boards with elaborate gilt titles on cover and spine.
