After three years as a U.S. marine in the Korean War, he worked as a railroad conductor, and as an auctioneer. He graduated from Stonybrook University, cum laude, at the age of 39. Dov credits a chance meeting with a TZADDIK (righteous man), Jules Rubinstein, in Brentwood, New York, with setting him on a the path of study and religious involvement. The family moved to Safed (Tzfat) in 1972. His books are published in English, German and Japanese.
