Condizione: GOOD. Later printing. A title in the second series of books published under this pseudonym by this very popular Maine author - this one featuring Prudy's little sister. In reviewing May's books, Thomas Wentworth Higginson said "Genius comes in with 'Little Prudy'. Compared with her, all other book-children are cold creations of literature only; she alone is the real thing. All the quaintness of childhood, its originality, its tenderness, and its teasing,--its infinite, unconscious drollery, the serious earnestness of its fun, the fun of its seriousness, the natural religion of its plays, and the delicious oddity of its prayers." I remember loving these books when I was a child (reading copies that had been in the family for generations) - I wonder if anyone still reads them today. Illustrated with a plain frontispiece and two full page drawings. Small format. 171 pp plus 10 pp of advertisements. Fair condition overall in red boards with white lettering, black and white illustrations - binding cracked both at the beginning of the book and in the ads at the rear, some foxing.…
