First edition (not stated) INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. xvi, 283 pages. Hardcover: H 23.5cm x L 15.75cm. Dust jacket rubbed, odd rippling at top of front panel and at top of front flap. Blue cloth. Faint moisture stain at heel of fore-edge with interior leaves slightly curled at those corner margins. Author's warm six-line ink inscription upon the front free endpaper: "To Virginia + Bonner, | who always wanted to know | more about Memphis State | during the Humphrey years! | Love | Bill" (author's first name only signature matches handwriting examples found in signed copies of his football histories for Ole Miss and Mississippi State). Interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy in a good dust jacket. ISBN 0878702121.
