The spine of the book has been repaired by a former owner with thick clear tape to the spine of the book and also to the inner front hinge / first page. The interior pages are generally clean and bright. THe spine ends and corners of the book covers have some bumping, rubbing and wear. There is a previous owner's inked name on the front cover of the book and both front and rear covers have spots of foxing. The text pages are mostly clean and bright. "The 95th Infantry Division was an infantry division of the United States Army. Today it exists as the 95th Training Division, a component of the United States Army Reserve headquartered at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Activated too late to deploy for World War I, the division remained in the Army's reserve until World War II, when it was sent to Europe. Renowned for fighting back fierce German counterattacks, the division earned the nickname "Iron Men of Metz" for fighting to liberate and defend the town. In April 1945, the 95th Infantry Division (United States) "Victory" division uncovered a German prison and civilian labor camp in the town of Werl. On 7 April, the unit reported discovering a camp housing some 4,500 undernourished French officers and 800 enlisted men. The book is mostly filled with photos of the 80th division doing various tasks. There is basic information on some of the places and battles the 80th were involved in during World War I. "The 80th Training Command (The Army School System TASS) is a formation of the United States Army Reserve. The unit was first organized in August 1917 and activated the following September during World War I as the 80th Division. During World War II, the Division was redesignated on 1 August 1942, as the 80th Infantry Division. Nicknamed the "Blue Ridge Division", it was initially composed of draftees from the mid-Atlantic states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Division was redesignated the 80th Airborne Division from December 1946 to May 1952. In May 1952 and March 1959, the unit was redesignated as a reserve infantry division and then a reserve training division. In 1994, the unit was granted the designation, 80th Division (Institutional Training). On 1 October 2008, the unit underwent a major transformation and is now the 80th Training Command. In the back is a Keepsake, a tipped-in leaf taken from a 1751 edition of Nathan Bailey's Universal Etymological English Dictionary. The leaf is double-sided and includes words in the "Me-" section of the dictionary. The Special Collections Section is quick to note that the copy of Bailey's Dictionary this leaf came from arrived at Special Collections incomplete and damaged, hence their choice to remove its leaves and turn them into Keepsakes.
