Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. 'The Rabbi' is a biography of Jesus Christ intended to present a more accurate depiction of His life than what is commonly believed by church laity in our times. Human as we are, each nationality and culture have a tendency toward making Jesus in their own image and after their own culture rather than seeing Him for who He truly was and understanding the culture in which He lived. Those who have the most accurate picture of who Jesus was and what He was truly like during His earthly incarnation are Bible scholars who search more deeply into His life than does the average church lay person. However, these more accurate understandings of Christ are mostly presented in scholarly works which only fellow scholars and seminarians can best comprehend. This again leaves the average church person out in the cold when it comes to getting a more accurate picture of the Messiah.'The Rabbi' will greatly help the church laity's understanding of Jesus Christ, as well as the people, places and events surrounding His life. It is presented in novel form which is easily readable, and includes the gospel record together with extra-Biblical 'gap fillers' that are more likely scenarios in the progression of Christ's life than are the many traditional but inaccurate beliefs. In some cases where no Biblical or historical documentation was available, speculation has been unavoidable and in other cases where there is disagreement among scholars, the seeming best scenario has been applied. What is sure is the average church laity member will find, probably to their surprise, many of their long held beliefs about the life of Christ are quite simply erroneous. This is largely due to periodic Biblical mistranslations from the original Greek to the English language, in addition to translators not selecting more accurate meanings of certain Greek words than what appears in English language Bibles. The story also includes full use of Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Aramaic names of persons and places within the gospels rather than their English translation counterparts. Though not a scholarly work itself, the story does offer gleanings from the writings of several Bible scholars, historians and commentators from around the world. Its novel format expresses probable attitudes and emotions of its characters not otherwise conveyed in the English language gospels, but does absolutely no violence whatsoever to the scripture. This is an enjoyable, inspiring, as well as insightfully educational book that, among its presentation of many little known facts among church laity, will draw the hearts of it's readers closer to the wonderful Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. 'Noah: The Oral Tradition Retold' is the story of Noah, his wife Naamah, and his three sons Shem, Ham and Japheth in the time of the Biblical flood. The story begins with Noah being suddenly commanded by God to build an ark because a forty day and forty night rain is coming which will flood the earth. What follows is a comical fiasco presented in dialogue between Noah, his family and neighbors who think he is crazy as he builds a giant boat on dry land. As the story continues, it humorously follows the story of the great flood, eventually arriving at the conclusion that only Christians and Jews would believe the story of Noah's Ark. 'Noah: The Oral Tradition Retold' is presented in the same vein of Christian comedy stage play literature as The Cotton Patch Gospel of Matthew & John by Clarence Jordan and Smoke On The Mountain by Connie Ray. Its light-hearted style and off-the-cuff whimsy make it an easy and enjoyable read. The book would appeal to anyone who enjoys humorous approaches to Biblical stories. and who doesn't enjoy a great Bible story and a good laugh? You'll find them both right here, in abundance, with 'Noah: The Oral Tradition Retold'! Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
