Five vintage borderless reference photographs from the 1962 film, including one of Jean Renoir sitting amongst the cast on the set of the film. Layout annotations in manuscript pencil, provenance stamp and label of film historian "Maurice Bessy," and "Le Caporal Epingle" stamp, all on verso. Two photos shown, please inquire to s…ee others. Based on the 1947 novel by Jacques Perret. A comedic account of a French aristocrat's repeated attempts to escape from a German POW camp during WWII. A companion piece to Renoir's earlier, WWI set masterpiece "Le Grande Illusion" (1937). Shot on location in Paris, France and Vienna, Austria. 9.5 x 7 inches. Some light edgewear, else Near Fine.
