Presumed first edition (no direct statement provided) - FAMILY ASSOCIATION COPY INSCRIBED BY THE POET TO HER DAUGHTER. 63 pages. Staple-bound paperback: H 20.75cm x L 13cm. Light green paper covers with some toning/foxing and light soiling; covers' edges overlap those of the text block and accordingly have some bumping, nicks, and short tears. Author's three-line ink inscription upon the title page: "From | Your Mother | Mary G. Steil." A few minor foxing spots to interior pages which are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Else a very good copy. Also with two items laid-in both appearing to be in Mary Steil's handwriting: #1-slender paper slip evidently clipped from a longer letter with poem "A Song of Faith" on one side; and #2- twice-folded sheet with poem "With You Away" on both sides along with pencil notation "Nov-1961." Acquired from the Columbus, Mississippi estate of Katherine Steil Neese who was the poet's daughter. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mary Jane Grafflin Steil was married to Otto Lincoln D. Steil and the couple resided in Troy, Ohio.

Also laid-in as a lagniappe is a twice-folded sheet with four-stanza, sixteen-line poem titled "Credo" and also signed; poem written on verso of stationary from the Gilmer Hotel, Columbus, Mississippi. Acquired from the Columbus, Mississippi estate of Katherine Steil Neese who was the poet's daughter. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mary Jane Grafflin Steil was married to Otto Lincoln D. Steil and the couple resided in Troy, Ohio.
