Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Green and white card wraps 15x21cm. 119pp. Wraps near fine. Interiors fine, with multiple associated signatures and inscriptions to the title page. Four years on from the invasion of Iraq, the Iraq Commission was formed to provide recommendations to the new British Government on th…e way forward. It addresses the present situation in terms of security, politics, economy, humanitarian assistance, Iraq's neighbours, the coalition, and international community. Recommendations cover on international action, UK military action, reconstruction, and humanitarian action. Appendices detail the workings of the Commission, its members, Secretariat, witnesses, submissions, remit, etc. It was chaired by Paddy Ashdown, Margaret Ann Jay, and Tom King. Its other members included Professor Brian Brivati, David Hannay, Rosemary Hollis, Paul Lever, Andrew Ridgway, Maeve Sherlock, Asim Siddiqui, Stephen Twigg, and Patrick Walker. Recognising that the issue remains deeply divisive and that not enough debate has focused on the aftermath, the Commission included individuals from both sides of the argument about the initial decision to go to war. This copy belonged to Rosemary Hollis (1952-2020), then Director of Research at Chatham House. In recognition of her contribution, the other Commissioners have signed the title page with brief messages of thanks. Some of the signatures are first names or initials only. Ridgway's is personalised: "Thank you Rosemary! x Andrew". Inscribed by Author(s).
