Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. A Gathering is a spiral bound Xerox Artist's book published by Pamela Stern in 1982. Each contributor was asked to complete 12 pieces during a 24 day period. A self-portrait was to be included among the pieces. Since the process was Xerox-based, the works could be no larger than 81/2 X 11 inches. ("Of course not all the artists worked within the constraints as was to be expected." Stern writes.) Works were included as they were delivered which led to a random-esque placement in the book. Limited to only 31 copies. Each copy is signed by the artists at one of their contributions. The book contains works by Catherine Bogart; Robert Galloway; David Harrod; Pamela Hickey; Kermit Lee; Ken Kennedy; Ruthe ;Morand; Stuart Rome; Pamela Stern; Dean Terasaki; Soma Wozniak; and the renowned artist/photographer, Holly Roberts, who contributed a long prose piece, 19 pages with 6 xerox reproduced photographs, called Road Kill. Published while Roberts was still in graduate school, this is most likely her first book appearance. Near Fine, as issued, and quite scarce. Signed by Illustrator(s). Book.
