The front pastedown contains an interesting bookmark: the bookplate is tipped in on the right side and it is a memorial label for "Harold L. Peterson 1922-1978". According to his Wikipedia page, Harold Leslie Peterson was a historian widely considered in his day to be a foremost expert on firearms and related subjects in American history. There is nothing under the bookmark.
