Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Born in Budapest, Strobentz studied in Düsseldorf and Munich from 1877 to 1882, lived in Munich, the Dachau artists' colony, and in Hungary, and mainly practiced plein air as well as genre painting, developing his characteristic impressionist…style. - Traces of a postmark; slightly waterstained; a few tiny creases near lower left corner. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
