Dark green full leather; vibrant gilt decoration to boards and spine with latter additionally decorated with five slightly raised bands; gilt tooled inner dentelles; some scuffing at spine ends and to band ridges as well as at board edges particularly at corners. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Past owner's ink name stamp and five-line fraternal ink inscription dated October 1881 on front flyleaf. B/w plates on unpaged leaves. Binding is firm. Title page's Ward, Lock imprint does not provide a date but book should be circa 1870-1880 (binding is probably not by Ward, Lock but rather an after-marked embellishment for gift purposes by a high-end London shop).
