Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. This 7.50 x 10.00, 512 page book is a colorful and profusely decorated example of 1920's book design. The front cover of brown cloth is decorated with a gold, orange, and blue illustration of frontier imagery and the title lettering is in gilt. The spine title is also in gold with a shield denoting the romance of America's History. The born cloth cover itself is in very good or better condition with some edge wear but the corners are still intact. There is a strip of whitish offset to the back cloth cover from some unknown material. The interior is colorful with the end papers showing a action scene from the old west, indians attacking a stagecoach. There is a one-and-a-half by four inch piece of paper glued to the ffep with penciled notation that this book once belonged to John Brewer in his private library. The interior text really has no condition issues to mention, the twelve full color plates are all present and are done by several period artists. There are numerous black-and-white etchings and decorations throughout. Overall this book is a very nice read featuring short stories by many authors including a number of very well-known writers. 512 pages.
