This book describes geological fieldwork undertaken in northwestern Quebec in 1914 and 1915 and the authors' inferences based on their field observations and laboratory analysis of the rocks present in the region. The authors provide a detailed description of the rocks present and their chemical composition, and their relationship to the broader geological context of the Pre-Cambrian. The authors note that the oldest rocks in the area are a complex series of lava flows and waterlain tuffs. They describe in detail how these rocks were later folded and intruded by granitic magma. The authors also note that some quartz veins cut the schistose rhyolite tuffs, and describe the composition of quartz veins found in pegmatitic quartz associated with various types of rock in the area. The authors conclude by discussing the economic geology of the area and note that despite a number of occurrences of valuable minerals, the remoteness of the sites makes their exploitation impractical at present.
