Gebundene Ausgabe. Condizione: Gut. Gebraucht - Gut - ungelesen, als Mängelexemplar gekennzeichnet, mit Mängeln an Schnitt oder Umschlag durch Lager- oder Transportschaden -Yaakov Yanki Teppler concentrates mainly on the second century CE, and includes two basic questions: the question of the earliest text of the twelfth blessing… of the central Jewish prayer composed at that time, Birkat haMinim; and the question of the identity of those minim who are cursed in this blessing. In the first section, the author analyzes the blessing itself. In the second section, which concerns the question of its principal objects, he sets out on a quest for the characterization of the minim, using all the hundreds of sources which deal with them. Having united these two sections in one framework, a proposal is made as to the identity of the minim. This proposal should provide a coherent basis for further research on this subject, laying a firm foundation for understanding the processes of separation between Judaism and Christianity in this stormy and fascinating period.Mohr Siebeck GmbH & Co. Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Being the first established prayer in Jewish history, the Amidah prayer serves as a faithful reflection of the circumstances in which it emerged and developed. This book endeavors to elucidate the intellectual necessity behind this significant liturgical evolution, as well as the internal t…heological and liturgical intricacies, and the external political dilemmas faced by Jewish society in the Land of Israel during the Yavneh Period. The transition from the first to the second century CE was marked by the violent conclusion of the Second Temple period, culminating in the Great Revolt's suppression and the Temple's destruction in Jerusalem, and the emergence and evolution of Judaism from its ruins.A key milestone in this period was the early development of the Amidah prayer, which became a central pillar in forming and reinforcing the concepts of community and nationhood. As communal prayer, it encapsulated the essence of Judaism as understood by the Tana'im and the ideology of the nascent Jewish leadership. It also represented the Tana'im leadership's strategic navigation amidst the dominion of the Roman Empire and the ongoing theological engagement with the evolving Christian faith. The enduring legacy and success of the Yavneh period are still evident in Judaism today. The series focuses on the evolution of Jewish language, literature, communal life and religious ideology outside of the Land of Israel and in relation to it. The approach is inter-disciplinary with an emphasis on mutual influences between Jews and their non-Jewish environment. The series welcomes studies that span different periods and a variety of geographical areas. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.
