This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Complete nitrification was investigated with synthetic wastewater containing high ammonium nitrogen concentration and low COD by the activated sludge as a chemo-autotrophic process in the Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR). The nitrification process was operated under the optimal conditions to achieve the complete nitrification. Then inhibition of complete nitrification process by adding aniline step wise was studied. It was found that nitrification process started to be inhibited at aniline concentration of 20 mg/L. Ammonium removal efficiency and nitrate formation efficiency were swiftly plunged, especially inhibition of aniline on nitrite oxidation was more than on ammonia oxidation. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique was also used to study the nitrifier population shift for completed and inhibited nitrification. Results shown that inhibitor aniline affected to nitrifying microorganism population. And aniline affected to the reduction of nitrite oxidation bacteria population was more than that of ammonium oxidation bacteria. 88 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The aim of this book was to address the household solid waste generation, recycling, and alternative treatments in the city of the Mekong Delta region in southern Vietnam. Two-stage survey of 100 households was conducted for dry season and rainy season. Household solid waste was collected from each household and classified into 10 physical categories and 83 subcategories. The book's contents presented the following issues: (i) to evaluate the quantity and composition of household solid waste to identify opportunities for waste recycling in detailed composition; (ii) to analyze the influence of relevant factors for household solid waste generation rates by physical categories and subcategories, next to develop the mathematical models of correlations between the waste generation rates of main physical categories and relevant factors; (iii) to examine the habit of households on recyclable waste discharge, the household attitudes toward good waste management and the household behaviors toward recycling activities; and (iv) to investigate the contribution of household solid waste treatment alternatives to mitigate greenhouse gas emission under various possible analysis scenarios. 168 pp. Englisch.
