Très rare brochure illustrée de 2 cartes en couleurs, gravées par Buache. Une carte céleste et une carte terrestre qui sont dépliantes et aquarellées à l'époque. Ces cartes représentent les trajectoires de la comète de Halley lors de ses trois apparitions en 1531, 1607 et 1682. Edmond Halley avait prédit qu'elle reviendrait en 1758. Dans le présent mémoire, cette comète est annoncée pour 1757-1758. La comète réapparut en décembre 1758 avec un passage au périhélie le 13 mars 1759. Thomas Jomard, chanoine régulier de Sainte-Geneviève, était l'assistant de l'astronome Pingré et ce mémoire, selon Lalande, a été supervisé par Pingré, auteur d'une "Cométographie", publiée en 1783. A celestial map and a terrestrial map showing the trajectories of Halley's comet during its three appearances in 1531, 1607 and 1682. Edmond Halley predicted that the comet would return in 1758. In this memoir, this comet is announced for 1757-1758. The comet reappeared in December 1758 with a perihelion passage on March 13, 1759. Gressent raconte sa rencontre avec Jamard et relate les difficultés que celui-ci rencontra pour retrouver un exemplaire de son propre livre, après qu'il eut été dépossédé de sa bibliothèque lors de la Révolution. 2 derniers feuillets d'index et privilège manquent. Exemplaire entièrement non rogné.
