Thümmel wurde 1882 Pfarrer in Geldern und 1884 in Remscheid. 1901 erfolgte seine Ernennung zum Professor für praktische Theologie an der Un…iversiät Jena. Thümmel griff die katholische Kirche scharf an. Er war seit 1874 Mitglied der Burschenschaft Alemannia Bonn. Sprache: lateinisch.
