BHR Band XXVIII La Troade a, depuis l'Antiquite, beneficie d'un double statut. Elle est a la fois une region de l'Asie Mineure et un espace litteraire, le decor des evenements racontes dans l'Iliade. Tres tot les deux entites se sont superposees dans la pensee des Anciens: personne ne doutait que la guerre de Troie se jouat dans le paysage de l'Asie Mineure. Or, meme si l'identification de l'espace homerique au relief reel de la Troade a une longue tradition, elle a toujours ete problematique et a suscite un long debat. La presente etude met en lumiere les nombreuses hypotheses emises dans l'Antiquite afin de comprendre les arguments avances par les protagonistes de cette dispute litteraire. La lecture du texte homerique, ainsi que l'interpretation du contenu, notamment pour ce qui touche a l'espace, dependent de plusieurs facteurs qu'il s'agissait d'exposer. Si cette etude constitue egalement une relecture du texte homerique, au cours de laquelle une attention particuliere est pretee aux allusions a l'espace, elle est surtout une analyse des interrogations des Anciens lorsqu'ils etaient confrontes aux memes passages de l'Iliade. Ce livre s'adresse aussi bien aux lecteurs de l'Iliade qu'aux personnes interessees par la transmission de la tradition homerique a travers les ages.
