A BCE (book club edition, so designated on bottom front DJ flap) of the First Edition, fourth printing, from 1968, this hardcover has burnt-orange cloth-covered boards with a black cloth-wrapped spine, embossed tiki design to front cover, gilt lettering to spine. Condition is VG: very clean, save for light handling soil to outside page edges. Binding secure & straight, pages white with age-appropriate tanning around all edges, but completely unmarked. Mild-moderate rubbing to extremities, heaviest along bottom edges & corners. The unclipped DJ is all present, but only Fair: with heavy edgewear & chipping & creasing. Original illustrated red cloth boards with gilt-titled black cloth spine in colour illustrated jacket 16x24cm. 287pp with over 70 b/w drawings in-text + XX colour photo plates as called for. Covers very good, bumped to the spine ends and rubbed to the corners, interiors very good with some spotting and marks. Jacket fair, not price clipped (priced T.V.P.I.C. $7.50), worn with closed fold tears and loss to spine ends, but still vibrantly colourful and protected in a clear removable sleeve.
