An effort has been made in the present study to analyse the American policy towards India in the Post cold War period. It was during the Cold War period relationship between the two democracies the US and India was strained. The relationship was strained due to the conflicting perspective in the Cold War. The main focus of US foreign policy was containment of communism. India being a leading non aligned country was opposed to the Cold War. India became particularly concerned after Pakistan entered into military alliance with the US. But things changed dramatically after the Cold War. The end of Cold War provided new opportunities for improving relations between the US and India. Indian adherence to democratic path secularism free market economy and above all the vast consumer market attracted the Americans. India also relinquished its non aligned policy as there were no more two super powers. Pakistan has been sidetracked and the US is now India's largest trading partner. The study presents the relationship between India and America in the Post Cold War period and seeks to analyze the relation between the two countries during the presidentship of Bill Clinton. 318 pp.

No portion of the global is out of harm's way from the menace of terrorism. No segment of life is safe from terrorist attacks. Terrorism has become the noxious mace of non state actors to challenge state sovereignty. It is also used as an instrument of state policy in some regions to trouble neighbouring open societies. The struggle of the international community to tackle this threat ever more appears to be a mirage. Scholars officials commentators security agencies all have been incessantly engrossed in devising new techniques and methods to diagnose the cause and deal with the consequences of terrorism. This edited volume is a humble attempt to compile thoughts and perspectives of Indian scholars ion this central theme of the 21 century and join the ongoing endeavor worldwide to seek solutions to this intractable peril. It is an earnest endeavour by the editors to amalgamate these perspectives on events and issues since the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US. 446 pp.
