Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. The collected writings of artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz, along with the stories behind them told by Alexis Vaillant. The collected writings of artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz, along with the stories behind them told by Alexis Vaillant.Marc Camille Chaimowicz (1946-2024) was an acclaimed visual artist known for his performances, installations and curatorial flair. He was also a writer. This volume, the first comprehensive collection of writings by the artist, includes seminal interviews, chitchats, jokes, performance reports, insightful statements and letters in essay form, as well as rare documents, such as early surviving leaflets, typewriter handouts and hard-to-find articles. Spanning 1971-2023, the book unlocks the work of an artist considered to be a refreshing role model for a new generation of culture mavens and style savants. Drawing from literature, modernist architecture, interior design, art theory, glam rock and camp culture, the collection reveals the artist's inner self alongside the art, social fl nerie and the goings-on of his time. Entertaining and witty, the texts stand out brilliantly with their early acumen and inclusivity, while setting a new template for an expression of queerness through writing. With access to Chaimowicz's personal material and photographs, curator and editor Alexis Vaillant is a guide to the artist's writings. Vaillant provides behind-the-scenes commentary and context-a time capsule of pleasure featuring Andy Warhol, Des Esseintes, Josef Frank, David Bowie, Vito Acconci, Eileen Gray, Alex Kapranos, Jean Cocteau, Elsa Schiaparelli, Jean Genet, Bob Dylan, Emma Bovary and Roger Cook, among others. This book presents readers with an in-depth look into Chaimowicz's quixotic shaping of his written work, which comes to life as a knowing and longing prose for the twenty-first century. Z/B : 20 x 28 cm, Hardcover, 240 pages, 60 colour & 20 b/w illustrations - First comprehensive monograph on the oeuvre of Dutch artist. By rigorously separating text and image, the book offers multiple interpretations, triggering the reader's own memory and associations. As Jörg Heiser phrases in his text on "myths": "It can be read as an intricate set of experiments exploring three distinct ways of 'navigating' myths, and a possible notion of truth that we inevitably need in order to do so. These three different ways, correspond to the three different types of empirical knowledge as defined by Donald Davidson: knowledge about what's in my mind, in the world, and in other people's minds.".

Z : 22 x 30 cm, 256 Seiten/pages with 160 coloured illustrations, soft cover embossed - Secret Societies, or so it goes, are constantly covertly working away behind the scenes. They are nevertheless responsible for epochmaking events, even revolutions, yet they still retain their arcane knowledge, which allows them to promote clever conspiracies in playful manner. Knights Templar, Jesuits, Rosicrucians, freemasons, theosophists, Opus Dei, CIA, Mafia, ETA, IRA, P2 and al-Qaeda, all of which represent a perpetual danger, irrespective of their leaning, which manifests itself in images of fear, and they threaten this state or that or indeed even an entire hemisphere with conspiratorial techniques geared toward murderous intent. Their own goal is always a state of some kind, be it divine or perhaps proletarian or at least a state liberated from something, a state, which can be coerced if, need be with bombs and violence. No wonder then when again and again harmless brotherhoods, as well as powerful associations, can be draped in mystique, granted spiritual dimensions, dangerous stereotypical enemies, which can only be defeated by radical destruction.

Aggiungi al carrelloSoftcover. Condizione: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 22,5 x 32 cm, 240 pages, 73 color & 428 b/w illustrations - Since 2005, Guillaume Houzé and his grandmother Ginette Moulin have presented contemporary art in La Galerie des Galeries, an art space they created in the Paris Galeries Lafayette flagship store, which was founded by Guillaume Houzé's great-grandfather. Each year they organize the "Antidote" exhibition, which is devoted to French and foreign artists. They have also started a collection together, which is now one of the leading French private collections and includes works by Xavier Veilhan, Tatiana Trouvé, Cyprien Gaillard, Saâdane Afif, Gedi Sibony, Wade Guyton, Ugo Rondinone, and David Noonan. They have decided not to publish a traditional catalogue of their collection. Although this book includes a complete inventory of the works, the collection is presented through a comic by Jean-Marc Ballée, which figures hominoid artworks in a science-fiction context, as well as through cartes blanches given to five curators. Pierre Bal-Blanc, Claire Le Restif, Alexis Vaillant, Jens Hoffmann, and Christiane Rekade have thus proposed their personal view of the collection, as if they were presenting an exhibition on paper. This publication is also a carte blanche to graphic designer and artist Mathias Schweizer, who has conceived this surprising book.
