Small 4to; original cloth-backed printed paper on boards; pp. (ii) + iv + (ii) + 29; few illustrations. Very slightly rubbed. Very good condition. Printed from typescript original. "Sometime in 1954, Mr. D. H. Varley, then Chief Librarian of the South African Public Library in Cape Town, noted in the journal Mariner's Mirror a short review of the Dagbog fra en Ostindiefart, 1672-75, reprinted in Danish from the original manuscript in German of J.P. Cortemünde, edited by Henning Henningsen, and published by the Handelsog Søfartsmuseet at Kronborg, Denmark, in 1953. As the Diary seemed likely to have at least brief mention of the Cape at a time when unofficial records by passers-by are comparatively scarce, the work was ordered for the Library .".
