It's a great issue with selections from contemporary… literary lions, and luminaries from the world of Art. Of special interest in this issue is a reproduction of an early painting by Francis Bacon, (reproduced in black-and-white), included in the "Paintings from Recent Exhibitions" section. The painting titled "Head" is a very early effort by Bacon, possibly the first in the series of "Heads", and one sees his distinctive style coalescing in this unsettling picture. Internally there is quite a lot of page creasing, and the paper has got wet at some stage, and some of the pages are wrinkled as a result (please see scans).
