Il fut peintre, collagiste, dessina au fusain, assembla le fer, les os et autres matériaux. Entre autres. Il écrivit aussi Il fut acteur au théâtre et au cinéma, correcteur, traducteur de l allemand Le collégien rebelle privé de tableau d honneur pour son esprit de fronde et d insoumission est resté toute sa vie un explorateur de voies détournées qui fit éternellement l école buissonnière. C est sans doute ce qui lui donna toujours une forme de liberté créatrice extrêmement féconde. Vers la fin de sa vie, des donations s imposaient. C est ainsi que des collections sont maintenant conservées dans les musées d Alençon, du Mans et de Granville, et qu une grande partie de son uvre est restée dans sa maison, léguée à sa commune de Saint Rigomer-des-Bois. De son vivant, la personnalité exceptionnelle de l homme s interposait un peu entre le visiteur et l uvre qui pourtant se laissait deviner et commençait à être répertoriée. A la mort de Gaston Floquet, les amis que nous sommes pensions ne plus pouvoir retourner dans cette maison et en explorer le contenu. L inverse se produisit ; un passionnant travail de recherche, d écriture, d exposition, d inventaire, mené ces vingt dernières années nous fait découvrir une richesse qui semble de plus en plus inépuisable à mesure que nous progressons.
