Panoramic silver gelatin photo. 32 x 9.5 in., signed by photographer in lower right corner, in original frame, an excellent exemplar, framed by Peder J. Krabbe, Pictures & Picture Framing, Vancouver, Wash, now fitted on archival foam core, and original acidic backing removed, preserving original framers label. This remarkable ph…oto records the dealers who won prizes for the Goodyear-Zeppelin Company's annual "Zeppelin Race" which rewarded those who had the highest sales over a two month period across the country. Just behind the dealers spread out, is a Goodyear promotional car pulling a giant oversized Goodyear Tire, the Goodyear planes are located off to the left, with aviation tires packed in crates setting on a flatbed truck, and the airship hanger for the USS Akron sets in the background. Of additional interest is that the prize for the 1931 Zeppelin Races was a large photo by Margaret Bourke-White of the Akron, framed in Duralumin used in the construction of the airship. Vorwerk (1896-1985) was a successful commercial photographer for Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company during the 1920s and 1930s until World War II.
