Soft cover. Condizione: Good. This is "Masterpieces of American Wit", being a selection of short pieces of humorous prose and verse. It is Little Blue Book no. 960, published by E. Haldeman - Julius. The use of one staple for the binding, and the picture of Mr. E. Haldeman - Julius tells us that this is a reprint of the original 1925 edition, that was issued circa 1947 . There is also a small Union label at the bottom of the rear cover. The selections are from fairly well-known American humorists. Some of them were well-known in their day, but have sadly been forgotten by the modern world. CONTENTS : ** JAMES BAYARD TAYLOR : Selections from the Experiences of A. C. Palabras Grandiosas ** C. F. LUMMIS : A Poem of Passion ** SAM WALTER FOSS : A Modern Martyrdom; The Prayer of Cyrus Brown ** IRWIN RUSSELL : The Origin of the Banjo ** "BILL" Nye : A Fatal Thirst; On Cyclones; How to Hunt the Fox; The Garden Hose ** EUGENE FIELD : Baked Beans and Culture ** GERGE T. LANIGAN : The Kind-Hearted She-Elephant; The Fox and the Crow; The Amateur Orlando; The Ahkoond of Swat; Fables ** ROBERT JONES BURDETTE : Rheumatism Movement Cure; The Great American Traveler SERIES : Little Blue Books (No. 960) TITLE : Masterpieces of American Wit AUTHORS : Bill Nye, James Bayard Taylor, Eugene Field, Sam Walter Foss, George T. Has a picture of E. Haldeman - Julius, and a small union label on the rear cover. GENERAL LITTLE BLUE BOOK CONDITIONs : Pocket Series and Little Blue Books were issued using inexpensive materials and thus are almost always found with toned and faded paper. Other small defects such as slightly chipped corners, printer's smudges, and such are common. Any flaws beyond the normal for these will be detailed. Little Blue Books often did not have blue covers - or the blue has faded to gray. Please remember that vintage paper items are more fragile than their modern counterparts, and thus require proper care in handling. THIS COPY -- GOOD ONLY -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable. Weathering and light abrasion along the spine, small surface loss to top of spine; staple is corroded; front and rear covers are somewhat splotchy color-wise, and there is slight chipping to edges, as well a wee bit of staining at bottom front edge, and a small tear to top front edge - else clean with solid binding - no writing. and unmarked.…
