Original issue (i.e. not a reprint). Paged as 49-64. Horizontal fold still slightly evident at center; toning and soiling; edge-chips and tears; thin string still present at center pages but sheets themselves are disbound; old hole punches with resulting tears at spine margins indicative of once being bound in a book; slight brittleness to paper; remnant of slender address label (original subscriber?) at page 64's lower left obscuring a few letters of text. Full page illustration: "Jack Frost Among the Rich and the Poor" (page 52) uncredited but by Alfred Waud; centerfold pages 56-57 feature three illustrations by William M. Merrick and three by Theo. R. Davis [Theodore R. Davis].

Program for the 150th Annivsary commemoration (including Fort Stevens) laid in. A Civil War veteran reflects on the war and its aftermath through personal reminiscences, diaries and correspondence. This was drawn from the Lewis Cass White Collect. It is illustrated with document reproductions and period drawings. White was with the 102nd Pennsylvania Volunteers. Very good in very good dust jacket. Inscribed on fep by Cooling on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens. Initaled by Cooling on t-p.
