Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. A commemorative bibliography issued in 1962 to honor Nelson Glueck's fifteenth year as President of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, one of the most influential biblical archaeologists of the 20th century. Includes an introductory tribute from the Board of Governors, a biographical sketch by Dr. Stanley F. Chyet, and the complete annotated listing of Glueck's published scholarship in English and Hebrew from 1920 through the late 1950s. A special laid-in printed card from Sidney Meyers (HUC-JIR Board Chairman) confirms that this copy was distributed as an official presentation volume from the Board of Governors. This example features strong, clean pages, crisp typography, and intact binding. The black cloth boards remain sturdy and bright, with gilt spine and cover titling sharp. Light shelf toning and a faint horizontal fade line to the rear board are present, along with mild offsetting on endpapers consistent with age. Text block is clean, with no writing, marks, or bookplates aside from the original laid-in presentation card. A solid and attractive copy of a scarce institutional publication seldom seen in such condition. This volume is the true first edition, with the copyright page dated 1962 and no subsequent printings indicated, issued by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and printed by H. Levine & Co. of Philadelphia. It retains the original deep-black cloth binding with bright gilt titling consistent with first-issue production and was published without a dust jacket, as was standard for HUC-JIR commemorative works. The binding is tight and square, and the copy includes the original HUC-JIR presentation card laid in-a desirable piece of provenance that enhances its collectible appeal.

Pamphlet. Condizione: Good. Pamphlet. 8 pp. This first issue of this 'little' magazine, featuring the story 'Les Amies' by Dorothy Weiner, as well as work by Clark Mills, Josephine Johnson and others. Edited by Mills, with Dorothy Weiner on the student staff. Perhaps an association copy, with Clark Mills' name and address typed at the upper front cover, with a handwritten 'exchange?' above that. Clark Mills (McBurney) was a poet perhaps best known for his friendship and association with Tennessee Williams, which began in 1933 and continued through their attendance of Washington University and beyond. Mills is cited by Williams as turning him on to poets such as Hart Crane, Rimbaud and others (see Tennessee Williams: Notebooks, edited by Margaret Thornton, p. 26). GOOD condition. Moderate offsetting and browning to the outer pages, mostly along the extremities, with some foxing to the same locale. Minor general browning and soiling to the exterior. Small crease to the lower corner.

BOX SET - Paperback. Condizione: Fine. First Edition, First Printing. Primary Information, 2010. BOX SET (The boxed facsimile edition of Avalanche's complete run reproduces the first eight issues individually, and the final five in a single newsprint paperback). First Edition, First Edition. Limited Edition 1/1000 copies.Willoughby Sharp and Liza BÃ ar founded Avalanche shortly after they met in 1968. At the time, Sharp was a New York-based independent curator and BÃ ar an underground magazine editor who had recently moved to New York from London. They published the first issue in 1970 and collaborated on 13 issues from 1970 to 1976. Avalanche focused on art from the perspective of artists rather than critics, and investigated new forms of art that were developing in the U.S. and Europe with probing interviews, extensive use of photography and dynamic layouts. For many artists, publication in Avalanche preceded a one-person gallery or museum show. Aside from an eight-page news section, the editorial content included only interviews, artists' texts and documents of art and art making. All interviews were conducted by Sharp, BÃ ar or done jointly. Among the featured artists were Vito Acconci, Joseph Beuys, Hanne Darboven, Walter De Maria, Jan Dibbets, Philip Glass, Barry Le Va, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Gordon Matta-Clark, Bruce Nauman, Dennis Oppenheim, Yvonne Rainer, Keith Sonnier, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, William Wegman, Lawrence Weiner and Jackie Winsor. This boxed facsimile edition of Avalanche's complete run reproduces the first eight issues individually, and the final five in a single newsprint paperback.
