Photographs, charts, appendix, bibliography, notes. Among the first books to explore and illustrate examples of photography's earliest years. It categorizes photography's varied forms and describes its literature and early achievements in the art field. There are more than 300 illustrations, most from major private collections, but selected primarily to show the development of photographic processes. Time Period 19th Century. Shows apparent inscription by author, as photographed. Binding is a bit brittle causing end papers to loosen.
