First Edition First Printing Stated. 96 Pages. t\ The author's business card say that what he does is Semi Pro, Pert-Near Full Time Short Story Reading and Telling. Before he reads them, he's got to write them down, and that's what he's done in this book. Not everyone could make a funny story of out of diving off a 30 foot windmill into a holding tak with, because of certain inattention to detial, three feet of water in it. Or out of a day that started with being stung by three scorpions roughly the size of draft animals and went downhill from there. Or out of managing to get your three-year-old grandson bucked off a bull, higher than you'd ever seen a kid fly. Brummett has. Through with and the one-liners, Brummett portrays an Ameerican West in which the old ways awkwardly accomodate the new, in which the day's drudgery is seasoned with humor and punctuated by practical jokes, and in which the irrepressible frontier spirit continues to prevail. Brummett says he's been a cowboy al his life, even when he was working on drilling righs. He lives in Maljamar, New Meico with his wife, three daughters, four grandkids, four roping steers, one grouchy roping horse, five of the nonlayingest hens in the world, and two cowdogs, one of which has a litter of 18 to 30 pups every other full moon. Curt performs at storytelling festivals and cowboy poetry gatherings around the country, and is the author of A Snake in the Bathtub.
