First edition (per matching dates upon title and copyright pages). vi, 371 pages. Hardcover; H 18cm x L 12.25cm. Lacks dust jacket. Dark maroon cloth rubbed with several small stains, light scuffing at spine ends with gilt lettering still fairly bright. Top edge gilt; light moisture stain upon bottom edge with several interior l…eaves affected in their bottom margins. Short splitting to the front hinge but with some tearing to surface paper lengthwise; past owner's personal bookplate partially peeled from front pastedown; past owner's ink name stamp on front flyleaf; small peeled remnant of mostly removed newspaper clippings on front fly verso and frontis recto with associated toning; small blue ink scribble at bottom right corner of page 159 but with no other such markings readily apparent upon a quick perusal. Old handwritten sheet tipped-in on verso of page 371 with small newspaper clipping laid-in. A good copy.
