Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. THE HOUSE ON THE KLONG BANGKOK HOME & ASIAN ART COLLECTION JAMES THOMPSON 1972. I have heard that no one did more to improve the economy in Thailand that James Thompson who almost singlehandedly promoted and marketed Thai silk. Regrettably, Mr. Thompson disappeared mysteriously while on a trip to Malaysia and as far as I know his body has never been found. He built a beautiful traditional Thai-style home on a Klong (canal) in Bangkok which I believe still operates as a museum and art center under Royal Thai patronage. I am very pleased to offer for your consideration: The House on the Klong the Bangkok Home and Asian Art Collection of James Thompson, with photographs by Brian Brake and text by William Warren. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 ½ x 10 ¼ inches, 88 pages) was privately printed in Tokyo, and this copy is the Sixth Printing, dated April 1972. On the copyright page, it notes that: This copy is specially bound in Thai silk. There is a photograph of a painting by a Thai artist paste-down on the cover and gilt titles on cover and spine. The book is further protected by a form fitting plastic sleeve. It is very well illustrated with both b&w and color photographs throughout. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There has been some light scuffing to the plastic sleeve, some tiny pin holes on the lower left-hand front cover and some minor cracking to the plastic at the spine tips. As a result of the plastic sleeve, the hard covers are really almost like new with no apparent wear or damage. Inside, someone has left a gift inscription note in ink on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book, the pages and plates of which are clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
