He sums up his ideas on what an education consists of in this sentence, from the chapter entitled What is Education?: "This, then, is what an education really is; namely, a training for life that will fit the individual to do well the thing he undertakes, no matter what that thing may be.".

Corners are a little bumped and spine ends are a mildly crushed, with small splits and chips.

Decorative Boards. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. John Clitheroe Gilbert (illustratore). First Edition. 365 pp. (?) Pages 54 and 55 and pages 58 and 59 are blank. The book ends at page 365 with pages 366 and 367 also apparently blank. Thus, NOT FOR READING! Bound in black cloth with a decorated cover in which a "capitalist" in a high hat and holding a globe is portrayed in a central panel in cloth black, orange background, and black and white globe) and with three money bags framing the panel. Lettering in orange. Cover designer not identified. This copy has some staining on the spine that is visible if the light is right and some other assorted soil on the cover and inside. An owner's name is on the front free endpaper in pencil and also a stamp from the Union New Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Overall, just about "Good.".
