hard cover. Condizione: Good. No jacket. First Edition. New York:Gould, Banks & Co. 1842. 1st edition. vi+241pp and vi+231pp. Illustrated. Hardcover. Original brown blindstamp boards, with gilt on spine strip still bright, lightly soiled and shelfworn, with wear along edges, both spine ends chipped with wear along spine strip (front and rear gutter) on volume 2 and both volumes edge points gently bumped and worn to boards. Page edges soiled. Internally, both volumes have age toning to yellow end-pages with a large bookplate to inside front boards of both volumes with a different previous owners name stamped to both 1st free end-pages. Both volumes have foxing scattered throughout with volume 2 having old damp stains to bottom edge of both ends of book, diminishing as book progresses. Both bindings are tight with hinges intact. Overall, a good solid copy.
