Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. From Jewellery to Contextual Art presents the work of the artist and professor Elisabeth Holder and showcases her unique evolution. Coming from a classical goldsmithing background, she placed jewellery in relation to ancient signs and the ornamentation that emerged from them, pursuing the examination of materials in the charged arena between mastery and dialogue, and posing the fundamental question of what jewellery is and can be. This led to a paradigm shift. Jewellery was recontextualised. Illustrated with examples from fields such as architecture and nature, it becomes clear that such jewellery forms are never excessive and are at once Contextual art.Text in English and German.

Hardcover. Condizione: As New. grey cloth boards with black illustration and silver printing. 203 pages : illustrations (chiefly color). contents as follows: Open Space - Mind Maps pursues the current development in art jewellery that is positioned far from the merely decorative in the aesthetic and artistic discourse of our era. Thirty international artists present their works in this publication, which is arranged thematically by the buzzwords inhabiting current trends, such as the nomaid aspect, art as field research, and the tendency towards narrative imagery and provocation that infringes on the boundaries of our discipline. All these facets as open-ended chapters illustrate the iconographic focus of each of these protagonists from across the world"--Back cover.

Paperback. Condizione: New in shrinkwrap. Black and illustrated wraps with teal and white lettering. 96 pp. Mainly color illustrations. Text in German and English. "Helfried Kodre is a pioneering Austrian exponent of contemporary art jewellery. He learnt goldsmithing in the 1960s while studying art history and worked at first with Elisabeth Defner, to whom he was married at the time. From the mid-1970s Kodre abandoned goldsmithing for a while but after a rather lengthy break, in which he taught at university, he re-emerged in the early 1990s as a jewellery artist. At the outset of his career, his formal bent was towards natural symbolism and organic allusions. Since the early 1990s an entirely different aesthetic informs his work: articulation that is anything but ambivalent, precision of design and formal language. In the work Kodre has produced in the past fifteen years, on which this publication focuses, the play of volumes and their exciting relationships predominates in a rhythm of expansion, opening and overlapping. A new publication in our "Art Jewellery" series, the book centres on the second phase of Kodre's career from 1990. It also traces his development as an artist from the 1960s.".
