The book was published by A. R. Harding Publisher in 1950 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as…such. The book is a soft cover book, 4 7/8" by 6 1/2" with 274 semi-glossy pages that include a Table of Contents and black-and-white illustrations throughout the book. At the moment the book is in good condition . . . BUT the binding is VERY brittle. I've already had to glue the binding, and I'm sure the next owner will as well. Great book . . . but older and not quite as sturdy as it once was. Thank you.

Interesting publication from Arthur Robert Harding's (1871-1930) how-to series of books called "Pleasure & Profit," which describes the various makes and uses of steel traps and care of pelts, etc. Other entries in the series were "Mink Trapping," "Bee Hunting," "Fur Farming," "Hunting Dogs," and many others. These works were th…e first widely distributed instructional books on trapping in the United States. The series, along with his two magazine publications, "Hunter-Trader-Trapper," and "Fur-Fish-Game," had a wide ranging impact on the development of conservation and game laws. Phillips pg 157. 8vo, 333pp plus [11] pgs. publisher's ads at rear. Illustrations throughout. Likely a later state with the latest advertised title, "Camp and Trail Methods," having been published in 1910. Illustrated blue cloth boards show moderate to heavy wear along the edges with some staining and soiling to covers, spine cocked. A charming, contemporary illustration in pencil adorns the front pastedown, depicting a canoe on the Hood River in Oregon named "Shasta Bill." Otherwise, clean internally with some minor soiling and smudging.

Harding, was published by A.R. Harding Publishing Co. in 1906. Not an ex-library copy, this 5" X 6 5/8", 188-page, 105-year-old, thought-to-be First Ed…ition offering is in G+ condition. There is some modest yellowing of endpapers front and back as well as pages of text, there is fairly frequent, light, spotty foxing on random pages throughout text, modest shelf wear at top and bottom edges of volume's spine, and some slight webbing is observed between pages 112-113 of text. From Editor Harding's Introductory, ".The methods [for trapping mink] published [in this offering] are from all parts of the country, and many experienced trappers tell of their best methods, so that it makes no difference in what part of America you live, something will be found of how to trap in your section. Most of the articles are taken from those published in the H-T-T(Hunter-Trader-Trapper Magazine) with slight correction." Complementing the text, and very much adding a decided early-Twentieth-century "look" to this rustic offering, are some 45 black and white, period photographs that alone make this volume worthy of purchase. And, spanning pages 175-188, are individual photos, along with detailed descriptions of each, of an assortment of Newhouse mink, and other, steel traps. Book also includes Contents pages, List of Illustrations, and 3-4 period advertisements for such Harding publications as "A Trip on the Great Lakes" and "Ginseng and Other Medicinal Plants".
