The holographic side has the James Webb, Hubble and Kepler space telescopes against a colorful sky. There is an additional accessible image stating Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. This is very suitable as a display case or exhibit item. The International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009) was a year-long celebration of astronomy that took place in 2009 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler's Astronomia nova in the 17th century. The Year was declared by the 62nd General Assembly of the United Nations. A global scheme, laid out by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), was also endorsed by UNESCO, the UN body responsible for educational, scientific, and cultural matters. The IAU coordinated the International Year of Astronomy in 2009. This initiative was an opportunity for the citizens of Earth to gain a deeper insight into astronomy's role in enriching all human cultures. Moreover, served as a platform for informing the public about the latest astronomical discoveries while emphasizing the essential role of astronomy in science education. IYA2009 was sponsored by Celestron and Thales Alenia Space. Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., commonly Ball Aerospace, was an American manufacturer of spacecraft, components and instruments for national defense, civil space and commercial space applications. Until 2024, the firm was a wholly owned subsidiary of Ball Corporation, with primary offices in Boulder, Colorado, and facilities in Broomfield and Westminster in Colorado, with smaller offices in New Mexico, Ohio, northern Virginia, Missouri and Maryland. It was acquired by BAE Systems Inc. in 2024, and is operated as a new division within BAE called Space & Mission systems. Presumed First Edition, First production thus.

Lanyard Card/luggage tag. Condizione: Very good. Presumed First issue thus. The format is approximately 4.25 inches by 2.5 inches. Rare surviving item of Space Shuttle and Hubble Space Telescope souvenir/tangible ephemeral item. One side has six images in one holographic view and eight images when shifted. The other side has a plastic pocket with the words Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. and has space for a name and address slip to be put in, enabling this item to serve as a luggage tag. There is a plastic loop that can be used to attach to a luggage handle. The eight images side has the Ball industry name and logo, a statement 'Agility to innovate, Strength to deliver" and the designation Servicing Mission 4. The Hubble Space Telescope was reborn with Servicing Mission 4 (SM4), the fifth and final servicing of the orbiting observatory. During SM4, astronauts installed two new scientific instruments the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) and Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3). Two failed instruments, the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) and the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS), were brought back to life by the first ever on-orbit repairs. These efforts brought Hubble to the apex of its scientific capabilities. To prolong Hubble's life, astronauts installed new batteries, new gyroscopes, a new science computer, a refurbished fine guidance sensor, and new insulation on three electronics bays. Additionally, astronauts attached a device to the base of the telescope that will facilitate de-orbiting when the telescope is eventually decommissioned. Ball Aerospace began building pointing controls for military rockets in 1956. The aerospace part of the Ball Corporation was then known as Ball Brothers Research Corporation, and later won a contract to build some of NASA's first spacecraft, the Orbiting Solar Observatory satellites. The company has been responsible for numerous technological and scientific projects and continues to provide aerospace technology to NASA and related industries. Other products and services for the aerospace industry include lubricants, optical systems, star trackers and antennas. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ball Corporation, Ball Aerospace was cited in 2023 as the 54th largest defense contractor in the world. Both parent and subsidiary headquarters are co-located in Broomfield, Colorado. In August 2023, Ball Corporation agreed to divest Ball Aerospace to BAE Systems Inc. for $5.6 billion in cash. On February 14, 2024 The companies announced that all regulatory approvals were in place to allow the deal to complete. The deal was closed on February 16, 2024.
