No Binding. Condizione: Fine. Ditko, Steve (illustratore). Framed covers of the five Amazing Spider-Man comic books that feature the villain Molten Man. Matching silver metal frames with acid-free mats and UV-resistant glass. A great collectible and gift for the wall of any comic book or Spider-Man enthusiast. This was not a commercially available product - the materials were compiled by this dealer and professionally framed. The dynamic covers of the following comic books were removed from the books, protected in a black mat and housed in matching silver frames: Marvel Tales #166 [reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man #28 - the first appearance of Molten Man], Marvel Tales #174 [reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man #35], Marvel Tales 109 [reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man #132] and The Amazing Spider-Man nos. 133 and 173. The dimensions of the matching frames are 14 1/8 x 9 inches, and each is fitted with a wire for hanging. The titles of the original stories in order are "The Molten Man" (published Sept. 1965), "The Molten Man Regrets" (Apr. 1966), "The Molten Man Strikes Again" (May 1974), "The Battle to the Finish with the Molten Man" (June 1974) and "The Molten Man's Last Stand" (Oct. 1977). New York City scientist Mark Raxton could not wait to use his skills to become rich, and once worked at Oscorp Industries as the laboratory assistant to Dr. Spencer Smythe, creator of the Spider-Slayers. Raxton and Smythe developed an experimental new liquid metallic alloy for the Spider-Slayers from a radioactive meteor, but Raxton attempted to steal it and sell it for his own profit. In the ensuing fight with Smythe in the laboratory, Raxton spilled the liquid alloy all over himself, his skin absorbing it and turning golden. Fearing for his life, Raxton ran for the nearest hospital, only to discover that the alloy had changed him for the better, when he angrily punched an irate motorist's hood, buckling it. Realizing the great potential of his new abilities, Raxton, now calling himself the Molten Man, turned to crime to further his monetary gains. Enter Peter Parker. A character based on Molten Man is rumored to be a villain in a forthcoming feature film called Spider-Man: Far from Home. Condition: the only blemish to report is wear to the top edge of the cover of ASM #133, surface wear to the cover, and two creases in the bottom right corner. Please see our catalog of Comic Books and Action Figures on our ABE Storefront. Buyer will be asked to pay the actual cost of postage due to weight, and a Canadian buyer will be charged applicable taxes.
