Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. (Woodwind Solo). Giulio Briccialdi (1818-1881) has been one of the major European flutists of the Nineteenth Century. Praised by coeval critics as "the first among the living flutists" in a period when virtuosos were reaching extraordinary levels, Briccialdi was a unique artist with a quintessentially Romantic personality. His refined activity as a composer is nowadays mostly known thanks to his paraphrases on operatic themes and to his didactic output, but it is through his concertos a real cornerstone in the instrumental virtuosic repertoire of the 1800s that Briccialdi exploits the pinnacle of his opera-influenced style. Briccialdi's concertos are intended for technically and stylistically advanced performers. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. (String Ensemble). Casa Ricordi Milano in partnership with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venezia (Istituto Antonio Vivaldi). Critical edition by Alessandro Borin. The six Concerts op. VI for violin, strings and continuo by Antonio Vivaldi were published in Amsterdam by Roger in 1719. Although the contribution of Vivaldi was probably modest even to assume that the collection was published without the composer's assistance and perhaps even his agreement these six compositions mark a decisive step towards the definition of the classic Vivaldi Concerto, a change evident both from the systematic adoption of the three-movement plan and from the absence of any supplementary solo parts beyond the principal violin. This critical edition is based on the first edition of Opus VI and its reprints, but takes also into consideration all the sources of single concertos printed into anthologies or transmitted in manuscript form (Wiesentheid and Dresden). The information gathered through the comparative analysis of the manuscript and the printed traditions of Vivaldi's Opus 6 has permitted us to reconstruct the links among the sources, to clarify some problematic editorial decisions and formulate new hypotheses on the genesis and the intrinsic nature of the collection as a whole. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. (String Solo). This Capriccio per violino solo M.S. 54 should be considered as part of the group of short musical dedications that Paganini was in the habit of giving away to friends, colleagues and the personalities he met during his travels. Dated 1828, dedicated to Count Maurizio Dietrichstein, is a truly unique work, not only for the way in which the music is organized (notated on four staves, one for each string) but also because of the way in which it was conceived musically. The concept of polyphony is brought to an extreme level, at least in conceptual and visual terms, in this composition. Its brief structure is reminiscent of a kind of four-part chorale written in score. It is characterized by its lyrical and elegant writing style, where the four voices move in polyphonic fashion, giving birth to an extremely refined harmonic texture. This critical edition is based on the manuscript kept in the Osterreichische Nationalbibliothek of Vienna compared with the modern editions. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. (Ricordi). This concert in five parts for violin and strings has a curious and rather controversial history. Excluded from the Vivaldi's catalogue on account of doubts raised by its musical language and by its preservation in two different manuscripts that carried conflicting attributions to Torelli and Vivaldi, it's with this edition that it finally attributed to Vivaldi. Score (Parts: 50602042). Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
