Hardcover: H 22.5cm x L 14.5cm. Original dark maroon paper over semi-rigid cardstock boards; both front and rear boards are detached from saddle-sewn bound text block; boards still attached to one another by original but well worn and soiled spine cloth which has large loss at head and retains only a remnant of its exterior maroon paper; boards have subtle faux alligator-grain pattern but are well rubbed and stained with wear along edges particularly at all corners; front board's title lettering heavily dulled with some flaking loss and thus now difficult to discern. Edges toned with soiling and staining. Text block is holding. Old faded pencil ownership inscription on front pastedown; varied soiling, staining, and foxing/toning to leaves throughout with a few pencil marks and some edge-wear. Various clippings, recipe notes, etc. errantly laid-in. Sold as. Evidently a scarce if not rare Troy, Ohio cookbook for OCLC does not locate a single copy of this 1897 first edition nor its 1902 second edition at any member institution (however OCLC does cite copies of the 1910 third edition at Harvard, Ohio State, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln). {Shelf #1}.…
