This work describes the implementation of Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers… into the fabrication of AC Josephson voltage standards. NbxSi1¿x barriers combine the robustness and high critical current densities of SNS junctions with the high characteristic voltage of SIS junctions. To gain insight into the inner workings of Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers, their physical properties were studied. One of the main goals was the analysis of the dependence of the electrical junction parameters on the co-sputter conditions. The interpretation of the obtained data was done within a model of Josephson junctions with semiconducting barriers. Especially the very high capacitance of the junctions and the nearly non-hysteretic current-voltage characteristic set the studied junctions apart from both SIS and SNS junctions. The fabricated circuits with up to 69632 Josephson junctions prove that Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers are well-suited for AC voltage standard applications. Der Josephson-Effekt ermöglicht quantengenaue Spannungsnormale, die die elektrische Einheit der Spannung mit der Frequenz verknüpfen. Diese Arbeit beschreibt die Integration von Josephson-Kontakten mit Barrieren aus NbxSi1¿x in die Herstellung von Josephson-Wechselspannungsnormalen. Barrieren aus NbxSi1¿x verbinden die Robustheit und die hohe kritische Stromdichte von SNS-Kontakten mit der hohen charakteristischen Spannung von SIS-Kontakten. Um das Funktionsprinzip von Josephson-Kontakten mit NbxSi1¿x- Barrieren zu verstehen, wurden ihre physikalischen Eigenschaften untersucht. Dabei wurden insbesondere die Auswirkungen der Bedingungen während des Co-Sputter-Prozesses auf die elektrischen Parameter der Josephson-Kontakte analysiert. Zur Interpretation der gemessenen Daten wurde ein Modell für Josephson- Kontakte mit halbleitenden Barrieren herangezogen. Insbesondere die sehr große Kapazität der Kontakte und die weitgehend hysteresefreie Strom-Spannungs- Kennlinie unterscheiden die untersuchten Kontakte sowohl von SIS- als auch von SNS-Kontakten. The goal of the first study was to evaluate the efficiency of the Trier Social Stress Test for Groups (TSST-G) and its ability to repeatedly evoke an affective and autonomic stress… response by means of two different protocols in a second measurement. The aim of the second study was to investigate the effect of prolonged mental and physical stress induced by basic military training (BMT) on hair cortisol concentration (HCC), while further exploring the role of covariates. Healthy young recruits participated twice, 10 weeks apart. In the first examination, the TSST-G consisted of a combination of mental arithmetic and a fake job interview (n = 294). Additionally, participants had to give a 2-cm hair sample and had to complete the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ; n = 177). In the second examination, mental arithmetic was combined with either (a) a defence speech against a false accusation of shoplifting (n = 105), or (b) a presentation on a given topic (n = 100). Participants had to give a hair sample again and fill out the PSQ (n = 105). Affect ratings and salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) were assessed immediately before and after the TSST-G, while heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) were measured continuously. The findings of the first study revealed that the TSST-G is a useful protocol to repeatedly evoke an affective and autonomic stress response, even though repetition leads to habituation, mainly in affective variables. When interested in efficacy to induce a stress response, a task containing a defence speech seems to be superior to a task containing a presentation on an impersonal topic, which is probably due a higher ego-involvement in the defence speech. The results of the second study revealed a significant influence of air temperature, humidity, and educational level on HCC. Military stress and perceived stress ratings did not influence HCC. This study is the first to examine the relationship between HCC and meteorological variables, as well as the first research evaluating the effect of military training as a real-life stressor on the HCC of the recruits. The two studies contribute to stress research by evaluating an instrument for inducing stress in a military setting and by using an innovative method of measurement. 138 pp. Englisch.

The kinetics study was carried out in shock-heated gases wi…th species measurements by high-repetition-rate time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The mass spectra indicate the formation of Si(OH)4 from the decomposition of TEOS while during HMDSO decomposition several Silicon-containing species were found, such as Si atoms, SiO and SiCH3. The ignition-delay time of the precursors in oxygen-containing bath gases was studied by observing the OH\* emission signal behind the reflected shock wave. The ignition delay times of TEOS and HMDSO are strongly temperature dependent and the Arrhenius parameters were determined.Silica-particle formation and growth from TEOS and HMDSO were investigated in a hybrid microwave-plasma hot-wall reactor and a low-pressure premixed H2/O2/Ar flame reactor by in-situ and ex-situ measurements. Particle sizes distributions were determined by particle mass spectrometry and the spatial gas-phase temperature distribution was measured with multi-line NO-LIF thermometry. The present research work provides data and new understanding of TEOS and HMDSO decomposition kinetics and particle formation and growth of silica nanoparticles in the gas-phase. These data can be used as input for computational fluid dynamics simulations and hence for the design of reactors for the gas-phase synthesis of highly specific nanoparticles. 138 pp. Englisch.

Decision-making in this environment can sometimes become a nightmare. There are too many choices and we simply cannot explore them all. Therefore, it would be re…ally helpful to have a system to help us to find the right choice. Such systems, which learn user preferences and provide personalized recommendations to them are called Recommender Systems.Evidently, the performance of recommender systems depends on the amount of information that users provide regarding items, most often in the form of ratings. This problem is amplified for new users because they have not provided any rating, which impacts negatively on the quality of generated recommendations. This problem is called new user problem or cold-start problem. A simple and effective way to overcome this problem, is by posing queries to new users so that they express their preferences about selected items, e.g. by rating them. Nevertheless, the selection of items must take into consideration that users are not willing to answer a lot of such queries. To address this problem, active learning methods have been proposed to acquire the most informative ratings, i.e ratings from users that will help most in determining their interests.The aim of this thesis is to take inspiration from the literature of active learning for machine learning and develop new methods for the new user problem in recommender systems. In the recommender system context, new users play the role of the Oracle and provide labels (ratings) to the queries (items). In this approach, we will take into consideration that although there are no data for new users, but there is abundant data for existing users. Such additional data can help us to develop scalable and accurate active learning methods for the new user problem in recommender systems.The thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, to be consistent with the settings of active learning in machine learning and the related works on the new user problem in recommender system, it is assumed that the new user is always able to rate the queried items. Next, this constraint is relaxed and new users are allowed not to rate the items.Most of the developed active learning methods exploit the characteristics matrix factorization because nevertheless, recent research (especially as has been demonstrated during the Netflix challenge) indicates that matrix factorization is a superior prediction model for recommender systems compared to other approaches. 152 pp. Englisch.

Auch Anwendungen aus der Sicherheitstechnik sowie der Telekommunikationsbranche operieren mittlerweile bei Frequenzen im hohen Gigahertz bis unteren THz-Bereich.Die vorliegende Dissertation behandelt zwei Aspekte, die für diese neuartigen Technologien von zentraler Bedeutung sind: die Detektion sowie die Erzeugung von THz-Strahlung. Hierbei kommen optoelektronische Techniken zum Einsatz, basierend auf der Anregung von Halbleitermaterialien mittels Femtosekunden-Lasern. Über den sogenannten THz-Frequenzkamm lassen sich auf diese Weise Dauerstrich-Thz-Quellen mit höchster Messgenauigkeit charakterisieren und räumlich aufgelöste Emissionsprofile der Quellen erstellen. Dies wird anhand zweier Detektionsverfahren, der elektro-optischen sowie der photoleitenden Detektion, untersucht. Die THz-Erzeugung wird über die Anregung kurzer Ströme im Halbleitermaterial realisiert. Hierbei lässt sich die Emissionsrichtung der THz-Felder allein über die Eigenschaften des Anregungslichtes kontrollieren, womit die erste rein optisch gesteuerte THz-Quelle demonstriert werden kann. 142 pp. Englisch.

In this work, the endothermic reactions of CH2D+, H2D+, and N+ with H2 have been investigated in a temperature variable 22-pole ion trap. Under the chosen conditions inside the trap the chemical processes are comparable to those in typical astrophysical environments.At low temperatures, the reactions mentioned above depend very sensitively on the translational and internal energies of the reaction partners. This dependence can be utilized to gain information on the energy levels or the population of the internal states. Based on this sensitivity, two different types of investigations were performed in this work. High resolution spectra of CH2D+ were obtained, resulting in improved predictions for pure rotational transitions. First steps were made towards a detailed understanding of the processes in laser induced reactions, often leading to non-Gaussian line profiles. In addition, the influence of internal states on ion-molecule reactions allowed to determine the purity of para hydrogen samples and yielded insight into the reaction kinetics of the system N+ + H2. 202 pp. Englisch.

In contrast to other groups a special two-stage fuel reactor was used. Two different oxygen carriers were tested: ilmenite a natural ore and a…synthetic copper based oxygen carrier prepared within this work. Experimental investigations in a cold flow model and an electrically heated facility were conducted. The attrition within the fluidized bed system was measured and simulated. The flowsheet simulation was applied to simulate the attrition in a 100 MWth-scale unit. Ein CLC System für feste Brennstoffe wurde entwickelt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Gruppen wurde hier ein spezieller zweistufiger Brennstoffreaktor eingesetzt. Zwei verschiedene Sauerstoffträger: Ilmenit ein natürliches Erz und ein synthetischer kupferbasierter Sauerstoffträger wurden untersucht. Die experimentellen Untersuchungen wurden an einem Kaltmodell sowie an einer elektrisch beheizbaren Anlage durchgeführt. Desweitern wurde der Abrieb der Partikeln im Wirbelschichtsystem untersucht und simuliert. Basierend auf der Fließschemasimulation wurde eine Scale-up Rechnung für den durch Abrieb verursachten Materialverlust einer 100 MWth Anlage durchgeführt. 196 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -The Josephson effect enables the creation of voltage standards with quantum accuracy by linking the electrical unit of voltage with the frequency. This work describes the implementation of Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers int…o the fabrication of AC Josephson voltage standards. NbxSi1¿x barriers combine the robustness and high critical current densities of SNS junctions with the high characteristic voltage of SIS junctions. To gain insight into the inner workings of Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers, their physical properties were studied. One of the main goals was the analysis of the dependence of the electrical junction parameters on the co-sputter conditions. The interpretation of the obtained data was done within a model of Josephson junctions with semiconducting barriers. Especially the very high capacitance of the junctions and the nearly non-hysteretic current-voltage characteristic set the studied junctions apart from both SIS and SNS junctions. The fabricated circuits with up to 69632 Josephson junctions prove that Josephson junctions with NbxSi1¿x barriers are well-suited for AC voltage standard applications.Der Josephson-Effekt ermöglicht quantengenaue Spannungsnormale, die die elektrische Einheit der Spannung mit der Frequenz verknüpfen. Diese Arbeit beschreibt die Integration von Josephson-Kontakten mit Barrieren aus NbxSi1¿x in die Herstellung von Josephson-Wechselspannungsnormalen. Barrieren aus NbxSi1¿x verbinden die Robustheit und die hohe kritische Stromdichte von SNS-Kontakten mit der hohen charakteristischen Spannung von SIS-Kontakten. Um das Funktionsprinzip von Josephson-Kontakten mit NbxSi1¿x- Barrieren zu verstehen, wurden ihre physikalischen Eigenschaften untersucht. Dabei wurden insbesondere die Auswirkungen der Bedingungen während des Co-Sputter-Prozesses auf die elektrischen Parameter der Josephson-Kontakte analysiert. The goal of the first study was to evaluate the efficiency of the Trier Social Stress Test for Groups (TSST-G) and its ability to repeatedly evoke an affective and autonomic stress res…ponse by means of two different protocols in a second measurement. The aim of the second study was to investigate the effect of prolonged mental and physical stress induced by basic military training (BMT) on hair cortisol concentration (HCC), while further exploring the role of covariates. Healthy young recruits participated twice, 10 weeks apart. In the first examination, the TSST-G consisted of a combination of mental arithmetic and a fake job interview (n = 294). Additionally, participants had to give a 2-cm hair sample and had to complete the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ; n = 177). In the second examination, mental arithmetic was combined with either (a) a defence speech against a false accusation of shoplifting (n = 105), or (b) a presentation on a given topic (n = 100). Participants had to give a hair sample again and fill out the PSQ (n = 105). Affect ratings and salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) were assessed immediately before and after the TSST-G, while heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) were measured continuously. The findings of the first study revealed that the TSST-G is a useful protocol to repeatedly evoke an affective and autonomic stress response, even though repetition leads to habituation, mainly in affective variables. When interested in efficacy to induce a stress response, a task containing a defence speech seems to be superior to a task containing a presentation on an impersonal topic, which is probably due a higher ego-involvement in the defence speech. The results of the second study revealed a significant influence of air temperature, humidity, and educational level on HCC. Military stress and perceived stress ratings did not influence HCC. This study is the first to examine the relationship between HCC and meteorological variables, as well as the first research evaluating the effect of military training as a real-life stressor on the HCC of the recruits. The ignition delay times of TEOS and HMDSO are strongly temperature dependent and the Arrhenius parameters were determined.Silica-particle formation and growth from TEOS and HMDSO were investigated in a hybrid microwave-plasma hot-wall reactor and a low-pressure premixed H2/O2/Ar flame reactor by in-situ and ex-situ measurements. Particle sizes distributions were determined by particle mass spectrometry and the spatial gas-phase temperature distribution was measured with multi-line NO-LIF thermometry.The present research work provides data and new understanding of TEOS and HMDSO decomposition kinetics and particle formation and growth of silica nanoparticles in the gas-phase. Such systems, which learn user preferences and provide personalized recommendations to them are called Recommender Systems.Evidently, the performance of recommender systems depends on the amount of information that users provide regarding items, most often in the form of ratings. This problem is amplified for new users because they have not provided any rating, which impacts negatively on the quality of generated recommendations. This problem is called new user problem or cold-start problem. A simple and effective way to overcome this problem, is by posing queries to new users so that they express their preferences about selected items, e.g. by rating them. Nevertheless, the selection of items must take into consideration that users are not willing to answer a lot of such queries. To address this problem, active learning methods have been proposed to acquire the most informative ratings, i.e ratings from users that will help most in determining their interests.The aim of this thesis is to take inspiration from the literature of active learning for machine learning and develop new methods for the new user problem in recommender systems. In the recommender system context, new users play the role of the Oracle and provide labels (ratings) to the queries (items). In this approach, we will take into consideration that although there are no data for new users, but there is abundant data for existing users. Such additional data can help us to develop scalable and accurate active learning methods for the new user problem in recommender systems.The thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, to be consistent with the settings of active learning in machine learning and the related works on the new user problem in recommender system, it is assumed that the new user is always able to rate the queried items. Hierbei kommen optoelektronische Techniken zum Einsatz, basierend auf der Anregung von Halbleitermaterialien mittels Femtosekunden-Lasern. Über den sogenannten THz-Frequenzkamm lassen sich auf diese Weise Dauerstrich-Thz-Quellen mit höchster Messgenauigkeit charakterisieren und räumlich aufgelöste Emissionsprofile der Quellen erstellen. Dies wird anhand zweier Detektionsverfahren, der elektro-optischen sowie der photoleitenden Detektion, untersucht. Die THz-Erzeugung wird über die Anregung kurzer Ströme im Halbleitermaterial realisiert. Under the chosen conditions inside the trap the chemical processes are comparable to those in typical astrophysical environments.At low temperatures, the reactions mentioned above depend very sensitively on the translational and internal energies of the reaction partners. This dependence can be utilized to gain information on the energy levels or the population of the internal states. Based on this sensitivity, two different types of investigations were performed in this work. High resolution spectra of CH2D+ were obtained, resulting in improved predictions for pure rotational transitions. First steps were made towards a detailed understanding of the processes in laser induced reactions, often leading to non-Gaussian line profiles. Ziel der Arbeit ist die Entwicklung eines neuen Verfahrens, das diesen Randbedingungen genügt und gleichzeitig befriedigende Ergebnisse in Hörtests erzielen kann. Aufgrund des geringen Kostenrahmens kommen Verfahren zum Einsatz, die auf kognitiven beziehungsweise psychoakustischen Effekten beruhen, wie dem Phänomen der Rekonstruktion der fehlenden Grundfrequenz. Zunächst werden die für die Arbeit relevanten Eigenschaften des menschlichen Gehörs beschrieben, dann die Grundlagen der Basswiedergabe über Lautsprecher dargelegt. Bestehende Verfahren zur Verbesserung der Basswiedergabe, basierend auf physikalischen Effekten, werden im Anschluss vorgestellt. Dann werden mehrere Lösungen verglichen, die auf dem Phänomen der Rekonstruktion der fehlenden Grundfrequenz beruhen. Das neu entwickelte Verfahren New Virtual Bass (NVB) wird ausführlich beschrieben und den etablierten Verfahren im Hinblick auf die Implementierungskosten gegenübergestellt. Jedoch scheint es Unterschiede bei der Akzeptanz im Hinblick auf die verschiedenen Bioenergiebereitstellungskonzepte (z.B. Biogasanlagen, Biotreibstoffanlagen) und die für die Bioenergienutzbarmachung verwendeten Rohstoffe (z.B. Energiepflanzen, Stroh) zu geben. Eine differenzierte Betrachtung der Akzeptanz gegenüber den in Deutschland verwendeten Bioenergienutzungskonzepten erfolgte bisher nicht. Vor diesem Hintergrund untersucht diese Arbeit anhand einer empirischen Studie die gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz möglicher Bioenergienutzungspfade im ländlichen Raum. Desweiteren zeigt die zunehmende Zahl an Bioenergiedörfern, dass Bioenergieprojekte im Konsens mit der Bevölkerung realisiert werden können und darüberhinaus den Bürgern die Möglichkeit geboten werden kann, direkt an diesen Projekten zu partizipieren.
