Emotions guide perception, attention, memory and decisions making. They challenge or promote health and well-being. Evolutionary, emo-tions have a physical origin and in line with this, a significant pro-portion of emotional signals are communicated non-verbally (e.g., by the face, gestures or voice). Nevertheless, in humans specifically language is taking over a pivotal role in conveying emotions by mentally representing emotions and feelings in terms of abstract concepts, the latter being theoretically assumed to be grounded in perception, action and bodily experiences. Scientifically, an 'emotion-without-language' or a 'language-without-emotion' perspective has been questioned recently by significant empirical evidence in support of a mutual dependence of emotions and language. However, core questions regarding this functional interdepend-ence remain. Neuware -The term insulin dysregulation encompasses different disturbances of insulin regulation in equids, including basal or a pathological high postprandial hyperinsulinemia and/or peripheral insulin resistance. Alterations of insulin signaling, as seen in human type II diabetes mellitus, might be associated with the development of insulin dysregulation, but the underlying pathomechanisms have not been elucidated yet. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine key proteins of the insulin signaling cascade in insulin dysregulated and healthy horses under basal conditions and after an oral glucose and intravenous insulin challenge. Secondly, the insulin and glucose response to an IV insulin and oral glucose challenge was described to assess glucose and insulin dynamics following different challenges. In principle, insulin signaling was maintained, but the signaling cascade was modified, especially at post-receptor events, in relation to the source of insulin. Thus, ID seems to be an equine-specific metabolic condition, in which alterations of the mTOR signaling pathway may play a crucial role, emphasized by higher mTOR phosphorylation in ID horses. Es wird erwartet, dass aktive Sicherheitssysteme, wie beispielsweise die automatische Notbremsung, Fußgänger- und Radfahrererkennung und Funktionen zur Unfallvermeidung, die Anzahl tödlicher Verkehrsunfälle weiter zurückgehen lassen werden. Dabei besteht die Herausforderung darin, die neuen Sicherheitsfunktionen in ein System zu integrieren, dass bereits heute hochkomplex und vernetzt ist. Entstehen werden Echtzeitsysteme, die aus hochintegrierten Subsystemen bestehen werden. In dieser Dissertation werden Methoden entwickelt, um die Auslegung derartiger Steuergeräte in frühen Entwicklungsphasen abzusichern. Mithilfe von Modelltransformationen sowie simulativer und formaler Methoden werden verschiedene Architekturkonzepte aus den Perspektiven e¿ektiver Umfeldwahrnehmung, funktionaler Sicherheit und Echtzeitfähigkeit betrachtet und bewertet. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind hierbei die Echtzeiteigenschaften der Softwareanteile der Sicherheitsfunktionen. Alle entwickelten Methoden wurden im Rahmen einer Forschungskooperation zwischen der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg und der AUDI AG angewendet. Folgende Erkenntnisse konnten unter Anderem gewonnen werden:¿ Die Fusion von Objektlisten verschiedenartiger Sensoren ist aus Kosten-Nutzen-Sicht zu bevorzugen.¿ Modellbasierte Sicherheitsanalysen bieten sich insbesondere in frühen Entwicklungsphasen an, den Entwicklungsprozess zu unterstützen.¿ Für die Echtzeitanalyse von Steuergeräten sind exakte Algorithmen erforderlich, die in der Lage sind die kritischen Systemzustände zu visualisieren.¿ Die Simulation der Softwaretasks ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Analyse und ist erforderlich, um die dynamischen Effekte des Systems zu verstehen, sowie die Relevanz der kritischen Systemzustände einschätzen zu können.¿ Der Ansatz der modellgetriebenen Entwicklung ist besonders praktikabel in frühen Phasen der Systementwicklung, wenn man die Verallgemeinerung der Erkenntnisse unter Berücksichtigung des Abstraktionsgrades der Systemmodelle und der Eingabeparametermodelle durchführt.Durch die durchgeführten Analysen wurden Jahre vor der Serienproduktion, und Monate bevor erste Entwicklungsmuster zur Verfügung standen, an verschiedenen Stellen Engpässe in der Leistungsfähigkeit der Architekturkonzepte gefunden. The basis of this method is a hardware-based thermal simulation model of a prismatic Lithium-Ion battery, called the Smart Battery Cell (SBC). By eliminating the active chemistry, enhanced reproducibility of the experimental boundary conditions and increased efficiency of the experimental trials are realized. Additionally, safety risks associated with Lithium-Ion cells are eliminated, making the use of the SBC possible with thermal management systems in an early state of developed and without costly safety infrastructure. This work discusses strong temporal classification using machine learning techniques. Here, two problems must be solved: the detection of those time instances when the class labels change and the correct assignment of the labels. For this purpose the scenario-based random forest algorithm and a segment and label approach are introduced. The latter is realized with either the augmented dynamic time warping similarity measure or with interpretable generalized radial basis function classifiers.The main application presented in this work is the detection and categorization of car crashes using machine learning.
