Written by the subject's great great grandson. This book is an account in words and pictures of the life and work of Eli Hamshire who was born the seventh son of an agricultural labourer, on Christmas Day 1834. Although he was self educated he became one of the greatest radical thinkers of the nineteenth century and bombarded all the leading politicians of his day, such as Mr Gladstone and Joseph Chamberlain, with his thoughts on how society could be improved. His writing ranged from the horror of the workhouse to his views on vaccination and fashion. Ref AA5.
